The "mobile dike" developed in co-operation with Wagenhuber has proven to be a particularly efficient system.
This involves a tube system consisting of high-strength, plastic-coated polyester membranes. The system assures the erection of an up to 2.6 m high flood protection dike within a very short period of time without long-winded material transports or the use of heavy equipment. In the event of a critical incident, the tubes of the mobile dike will be unrolled and immediately filled with water provided on the spot. Due to their low empty weight, tubes can be transported quickly even to distant and remote regions.
When the flood rises the mobile dike is unrolled directly into the rising water.
The submersible pump is positioned.
The first tube is connected to the submersible pump and filled with water. The rising flood water is already being dammed. In the case of unsurfaced areas, an additional sealing tarpaulin prevents the mobile dike from being washed away.
Both lower tubes are filled. Their total weight now amounts to approximately 80 tons and they are capable of damming up water up to a height of 90 cm.
Also the third tube is filled. The total weight of the mobile dike now amounts to 120 tons and it can dam up water up to a height of approximately 165 cm.
